Satun is the capital of the most southern province on the west coast of Thailand, 995 km from Bangkok. The city has a population of 28.000, mainly Muslims and some Christians. This harbor town off the beaten track does not offer much for tourists. Some travelers take a boat from here along the beautiful shore to Kuala Perlis or directly to the island of Langkawi in Malaysia.
Satun is also a small tranquil province by the Andaman Sea. The province of Satun is rich with lush mountainous forest and surrounded by more than 80 beautiful islands. The most well-known islands are Tarutao, Adang and Ko Lipe.
